HOME.
def.- the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household
In just a few days we will make our way to the States for a friends wedding and quick visit with family.
As we talk about this trip we have all stumbled over the word ‘home’.
It feels wrong and a bit awkward to call the US home, when it is no longer.
Yet Haiti is still a long way from feeling like home. The sights and smells are becoming more familiar and our tiny room has so many things that look like home. When we drive through our village we are starting to see a familiar face or two and even understand a few phrases. Our kids here are so precious to us and we cannot imagine life without them but the pull the other way is just as hard….we ache to be near friends and family.
This is the beginning of having our hearts in two different countries. It’s not bad. It is actually a sweet privilege. The borders of our hearts have been enlarged. When God gives you more to love it will also always be met with pain. Your heart leaving your body more often is painful and so beautiful.
All of this makes us long even more for our Heavenly home. Permanent. Members of God’s family. Together forever. No more pain, injustice, sin.
We pray that God would continue to increase our love for our new home and the people here He has us to love and speak truth to. The Gospel of Christ is beautiful and makes all the hard things worth it. We are continually humbled that God “has regarded our helpless estate and shed His own blood for our souls”! We, the chief of sinners, have been given GRACE UPON GRACE and we rejoice in the task He has set before us.
We think of you all often, we miss you. Our trip to the St. Louis area will be too short and too far from some of you. I am thankful for the sadness I feel in missing so many- God has richly blessed us with the dearest of friendships.
Lets love more, without fear.
Because the Gospel is powerful, God’s love is big and Jesus is worth it.
With so much love and for His Glory- The Young Family
1 John 4:7
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.
