Lay it down, child.
Lay it down.
This burden, it is not for you to carry.
This heartache, I have felt and carried a thousand times before.
This calling, it is a calling to Me, for Me.
trust Me.
I have called you to the waiting room,
to know Me.
to trust Me.
to glorify Me.
to know the depth of my love for you.
Open your hands, it is not yours.
Your life.
Your dreams.
Your gifts.
The pain and brokenness inside of others…
and yourself.
Lay it down, my child.
Lay it down.
For I will carry it all.
heal it all.
see it all.
In this awkward season of waiting God has us in, this is the constant word I hear…Lay it down. I want to pick up and carry with me so much that is not mine. I want to hold onto so much that needs to be let go of- as if by holding it I can fix, heal or mold it into something else. So much pride. Lay it down. God is our Sovereign guide, the only opinion that matters, our validation, our joy, our hope and our sustainer.
I have to tell my heart so often (as cheesy as it sounds) that we really do live for an audience of One and life is much more simple and our joy overflowing when we keep our gaze there.
So Be It
“So be it, ’tis Thy plan not mine,
And being Thine is good,
My God, my will shall yield to Thine
Ere it is understood.
So be it, I a child of dust
Will not oppose Thy way,
Move on, mysterious Will, I trust,
I love, and will obey.
So be it; and do Thou, my heart,
No childish questions ask,
Thou in God’s counsels hast no part,
Crave not so hard a task.
So be it; yes, so be it, Lord,
No word have I to say-
O be Thy gracious Name adored-
I love and will obey.”
-Elizabeth Payson Prentiss
Remember weary, faltering heart- God has loved everyone, from before the foundations of the earth. He loves perfectly. He sees all. He has never once forgotten. Loving and caring for others is a gift, but God has loved and cared for all even before we saw the need and He will continue to love and care long after we are gone. Why? Because before we drew our first breath He loved, He saw, He cared, He had a plan. Holding everyone God brings into our lives with an open hand challenges our pride. It is so important to, in our hearts and minds, keep God on His thrown. May we walk forward, not knowing fully or understanding fully but trusting, clinging to hope and to Christ. He will make all things new. He WILL be glorified.
“Will we allow the truth of God’s promises to change the way we see life, with all its challenges and obstacles? To ease our fears and calm our anxieties? To give us hope and confidence when there doesn’t seem to be any earthly reason for either?” –A Place of Healing by Joni E. Tada
” ‘Wait on the Lord’ is a constant refrain in the Psalms, and it is a necessary word, for God often keeps us waiting. He is not in such a hurry as we are, and it is not his way to give more light on the future than we need for action in the present, or to guide us more than one step at a time. When in doubt, do nothing, but continue to wait on God. When action is needed, light will come.” -unknown
